OryonTech develops Agent as a Service, a WhatsApp-first platform that enables businesses to manage customer interactions, orders, bookings, payments, and operational workflows.

We are building a small engineering team with high ownership. Engineers stay close to customer problems, cross traditional functional boundaries when necessary, and remain accountable until the workflow works in production.

Position overview

We are seeking a senior product engineer who can take a customer or product outcome and own the technical path to making it real.

This role is deliberately broad. You may work across a merchant-facing interface, backend API, integration, data model, operational tool, and deployment in the same workstream. You are not expected to be the deepest specialist in every layer, but you must be strong enough across the stack to reason about the whole workflow and collaborate effectively with specialty owners.

You will participate in discovery, propose the solution, build critical parts, coordinate dependencies, verify the customer outcome, and turn recurring needs into reusable product capability.

AI-assisted engineering (required)

You must actively use company-approved AI coding assistants and agentic development tools as part of your daily engineering workflow to build and improve production software efficiently. This is a core requirement, not an optional advantage, and applies to your own development process, not only to building AI product features.

• Use AI tools for research, planning, prototyping, implementation, refactoring, testing, debugging, documentation, and production diagnosis when appropriate to the task.
• Supply relevant codebase context, API contracts, constraints, failure cases, and acceptance criteria; iterate deliberately rather than accepting the first generated answer.
• Understand, review, test, and explain every change you ship. AI output does not replace engineering judgment, code review, security checks, or deployment approval.
• Protect credentials, personal information, customer data, and proprietary code. Use only approved tools and data-handling settings, keep access least-privileged, and never give AI tools uncontrolled production access.
• Build reusable prompts, instructions, tests, and automation that reduce repetitive work. Demonstrate efficiency through delivery time, reduced rework, and reliable outcomes, not lines of generated code; keep tool usage and cost proportionate.
• Use AI tools to accelerate discovery, prototypes, implementation across the stack, integration tests, and production troubleshooting; verify the complete customer workflow rather than isolated generated components.

During technical screening, be ready to walk through an AI-assisted change, explain what you accepted or rejected, and show how you verified correctness. No additional document or exercise is required with your initial CV email.

Principal responsibilities

End-to-end product ownership

• Take clearly defined customer or business outcomes from discovery through design, implementation, release, and verification.
• Work across frontend, backend, data, integrations, and operational tooling when that is the fastest responsible path to the outcome.
• Build production features using TypeScript/React/Next.js and Python/FastAPI, with appropriate use of PostgreSQL, Redis, APIs, background jobs, and cloud services.
• Integrate third-party systems such as messaging, payments, bookings, email, or other merchant tools.
• Maintain accurate, backend-authoritative state and safe failure/retry behavior across the full user journey.

Forward-deployed delivery

• Work directly with merchants and internal stakeholders to understand workflows, constraints, and what success means.
• Turn ambiguous problems into technical scope, acceptance criteria, and a practical delivery plan.
• Demonstrate working software early, gather evidence, and iterate without creating one-off customer forks.
• Convert repeated deployment needs into configurable features, components, integrations, and implementation patterns.

Engineering quality and production ownership

• Write maintainable code, tests, migrations, and documentation appropriate to the risk of the change.
• Diagnose issues across browser, API, database, queue, integration, and cloud boundaries.
• Participate in code review, release validation, monitoring, incident response, and post-release follow-up.
• Protect tenant isolation, authentication, authorization, sensitive data, transaction correctness, and operational traceability.
• Improve areas of the system that repeatedly create defects, manual work, or customer friction.

AI-assisted engineering and collaboration

• Use approved AI engineering tools to accelerate investigation, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation while owning the quality of every result.
• Provide AI tools with relevant product context, code, contracts, schemas, constraints, failure cases, and acceptance criteria, then verify generated work.
• Collaborate deeply with Applied AI, backend, frontend, infrastructure, product, GTM, and delivery colleagues.
• Bring a considered technical recommendation when requirements are incomplete and surface material trade-offs early.
• Share reusable prompts, patterns, lessons, and technical decisions with the team.

Required qualifications

• Demonstrated practical use of AI-assisted engineering tools to deliver tested software, with the ability to independently explain, debug, and maintain the resulting work.
• Strong professional software engineering experience with evidence of shipping and operating customer-facing products.
• Strong capability in at least one of our primary application stacks: TypeScript/React/Next.js or Python/FastAPI, plus enough depth in the other to work effectively across the boundary.
• Practical SQL/PostgreSQL experience and understanding of data integrity and transactional behavior.
• Experience integrating APIs, webhooks, authentication, and third-party services.
• Experience taking ambiguous product requirements and independently moving them toward a production outcome.
• Strong debugging ability across multiple layers of a web system.
• Practical testing, Git, CI/CD, code review, and production monitoring habits.
• Evidence of product judgment, customer communication, ownership, and clear technical reasoning.

Preferred experience

• Commerce, payments, bookings, messaging, support, or operational workflow software.
• Redis, asynchronous processing, queues, or event-driven systems.
• GCP, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, or comparable cloud services.
• WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta Cloud API, or Twilio.
• AI/LLM applications, tool calling, LangGraph, or AI-assisted product workflows.
• Multi-tenant SaaS, billing, usage metering, or audit logging.
• Previous founding-engineer, forward-deployed, solutions-engineering, or customer-facing product experience.

Performance expectations

Success will be assessed against the outcomes you own:

• Customer workflows reach production and work as agreed, including recovery paths.
• You can move from an ambiguous problem to a scoped technical recommendation without detailed implementation instructions.
• Delivery crosses frontend/backend/integration boundaries without unnecessary handoffs.
• Recurring needs become reusable product capabilities rather than custom patches.
• Production defects and operational friction in owned workflows decline over time.
• Your work is understandable, testable, maintainable, and operable by colleagues.

Specific targets will be established from the current platform baseline and the priorities agreed for the role.
